Brian,
My first camera was a Nikon and I've been buying them ever since. In todays world there isn't a whole lot of brand loyalty but Nikon hasn't let me down. As a result, I just keep buying their products.

The D40 has been great. Its lightweight and easy to carry around, is easy to use, and has a fair price tag associated with it.

If I had to do it all over again, I would still have gone with the D40 over some of the others models I considered.

Its just a good value in my eyes. Good luck with your camera search and don't forget to drop a comment here and let us know what you decided to go with.

Calestus,
Thats a tough question, I really don't know what I would choose in either case.

As far as time goes, I'm very interested in World War II and The Civil War, although I wouldn't want to be involved in either.

I once sat in on a story telling session at the Daniel Boone Homestead a few years ago when an actor played Daniel Boone. It was incredibly interesting and I would love to sit in on another at some point.

I guess the safest selection would be the Boone era. As far as cigars, maybe a pair of Padilla Signature 1932's. One for me and maybe one for old Daniel Boone, maybe I could trade him a cigar for a story.

Hi Walt, love the latest photo. How do you like your D40 now that you have had time to get to know it? I have always been a canon eos man but was thinking about trying a nikon. Keep up the good work.

That's pretty awesome.

If you could go back in time with two cigars, what two would you take and who would you smoke them with?

I think I'd go back to one of the Caesars, not sure what stick I'd take though.
