ara133photography,
On the recommendation of a site regular, I went and tried to purchase a Neti Pot from a local pharmacy. They didn't have such a thing but did have a couple of sinus rinse kits in stock.

I use the product roughly once a week (will need to use more when its time to start mowing the lawn) but I have been very happy with the results.

It is a little strange at first, but I got used to it quickly.

Here is my post on the <a href="http://www.waltinpa.com/2009/03/26/there-is-no-way-im-sticking-that-up-my-nose/" rel="nofollow">Sinus Rinse Kit</a>.

Ever since I started using the product, I haven't had allergies bad enough to warrant picking up a prescription or use over the counter medication. The allergies aren't completely gone, but they are very mild compared to what they were.

Ugh, I share your misery. This season has been one of the worst I can recall for my allergies. Some days I just have that awful have-to-sneeze feeling (with watering eyes, scratchy throat, etc.) the Whole Day. Others have just been typical nasal allergy days, but pretty strong. Right now I'm just taking dye-free benadryl pills, but I have to ake 2 to get any effect on the have-to-sneeze days and that just knocks me out. I've tried loratidine (generic claritin), zyrtec, allegra, and chlorpheniramine maleate (chlortrimeton)... allegra was the least effective for me; zyrtec did have an effect but I didn't like the side effects - feeling very dried-out and stuffy - at all.

I suffer bigtime! I take Loratadine 10mg pills (Claritin without the huge markup for the name! I get them in the walmart brand - Member's Mark - either at wally world or sams club). It says to take 1 per 24 hour period, but I always wanted to ask my doc if I could take 2 per day since the effects seem to wear off to quickly for me.

I have noticed different tastes when smoking cigars also when I am allergy prone! Guess that is what the cheap Perdomo Fresco are for ;)

I don't suffer from allergies but my wife does, big time. She takes Claritin D but the one thing she does use that really helps is something called a Neti Pot. Looks like a little tea pot..fill it with warm water, add some salt and shake it up. Poor it into one nostril and it'll fill up your sinuses and eventually come out the other nostril. Once the neti pot is half empty, switch to the other nostril. You'd be amazed at all the "stuff" that comes out. I've used it and it takes awhile to get used to the sensation but it works great. Most drug stores carry the neti pot along with little packets of pre measure salt.
