I’m with you Walt. Being raised in the south, it was never a question about holding doors for folks. Been doing it all my life, guess I will til I die.

I hate big stores and malls, would much rather shop with Mom & Pop; they remember you and appreciate your support. Wal-Mart doesn’t give a damn about anything except making money.

I was raised like you Walt and my wife is the opposite. I chuckled as I read because my wife and I have the same discussions in the stores. Manners and respect are lost on the world today…I’m just glad my mom & dad taught me common courtesy for others…at least that’s something positive I can pass on!

VERY much agree with you Walt! If you would grow some hair, you could be Tom’s and my brother LOL

Best experiences I have had are where I hold a door for someone and they in turn hold the 2nd door for me. It is just common courtesy.

If you don’t want to take care of your children, either put them up for adoption or DON”T BRING THEM TO THE DAMN STORE! I wish stores would tell parents to leave when they let their children run wild! How many people would be scrambling to actually raise their children properly or finding a babysitter.

I do the exact thing with the cart also. My wife gets mad at me sometimes because I will move it just to make sure others can get through – lol

Don’t you just love it when you are standing in line behind somebody that has just a few items and you stand there thinking that you’ll be out of there quick, only to have that person’s spouse pull up with a cart full of shit. Happened to me a few times at Costco.

Another annoyance that I tend to encounter:

Here at my local A&P, they have a self checkout area with 4 spots where you can scan your items and bag them. Most of the times when I go there and I’m only buying a few items, instead of going to the express lane, I’ll head over to the self checkout only to find people with carts filled to the gills. Then I’ve gotta deal with watching these idiots trying to find the bar codes on all the items.

Couldn’t agree with you more. It all goes to the show that the me generation has completely lost touch with the idea of having consideration for your fellow man. The verse “Do unto others as you would have done to you” has been thrown out the window. This is why my wife does all the grocery shopping. All of my purchases are done online. All store purchases are done on their website so that the item is waiting for me at customer pick-up.
The less time around the mad masses the better.

I agree with you too. People are so damn ignorant. My favorites are
1) coming in the door marked exit. I tell people this is the exit door, they ignore me.
2) people talking on their cell phones and wandering their carts back and forth
3) When the check out person tries to put my single item in a bag

It is such a hassle to shop and that is due to ignorant people. No wonder people shop online. Oh yeah and what you want is usually never there. It would be fun to shop while I have a cigar, that would drive the ignorant people away!

Right on Walt…. you couldn’t be more right. And now I am dreading the trip to Costco that I have to make later today even more. With those big ass carts they have there it can be way worse then the standard grocery store.

Walt, 1,000% agreement! What you describe is just a microcosm of the general decline in civility. Let me add my 2¢: people who talk on the phone while slowly rolling down the MIDDLE OF THE AISLE SO NO ONE CAN PASS! If you want/need to talk pull over! Be aware of others around you. Thanks Walt.
