Shooting The Breeze Podcast: Episode 33

La Flor Dominicana Double Claro and Glock 17 - 1

Would you believe me if I told you that after being sick and having to delay Episode 32 of the Shooting The Breeze Podcast, I came down sick again and had to delay Episode 33? I swear, it is the truth. Rather then post Episode 33 late (like I did with Episode 32) I decided that I was probably better off waiting until Tuesday to roll back around to post the episode.

This meant doing the unthinkable and skipping a week. The thought of a missed week bothers me something fierce, so before we round out a years worth of podcasts, I will make it up at some point and produce an extra show somewhere in the mix.

Before clicking play and checking out the podcast, do me a favor and ‘Like’ Walt In PA on Facebook. I’ve been hovering around 85 Likes for the past couple of weeks and it would make my week to see that number push up into triple digits.

Discussion Topic:

I was asked a while back to compare my opinion of my M&P versus my new Glock. In this episode I compare the two and discuss my opinions of the Glock after two USPSA matches and a practice session (Aprox 500 rounds).

  • Great Pod Cast Walt, I have only every shot your M&P but I wasn’t a fan of the Trigger on it either. I can’t wait to see how your Glock looks up close (that is if we ever get shooting again) Hows the re-loading going?

  • Corey,
My shiny new reloading press is still in the box that it came in. I need to order some stuff to go with it (media tumbler, separator, calipers, a scale, etc…) and I just haven’t had the spare cash. I’ve been debating on where I’m going to reload and I think I want to create a dedicated space in my basement instead of setting up and breaking down every time.

  • Good show. I have been waiting to see the compare on the M&P and the Glock. I really like my M&P but I see what you are saying about the trigger. Also I was not to sure how I like the new look of your Glock but seeing it in the video change my mind. Looks like the did a great job on the colors and I really like the sights you went with.

    • Joe,
I couldn’t be happier with this sights. At close range it almost feels like cheating. Sight acquisition is so fast!

With that close range speed, you loose a little accuracy long-range (there is a lot of space on either side of the front sight post and lining up the sights perfectly becomes tough).

Thanks for checking out the podcast and taking the time to leave a comment.

  • Hey Walt just listened to the podcast if you need mags for your M&P check out http://www.44mag.com they had them for ~$25. I like your choice of the Warren sights, i have them on an M&P Pro and an XDm. I dont feel i give up any accuracy as my eyes want to naturally align the front sight and picking up the front sight is faster with the wider notch.

    • Ty,
Thanks for the link. I’ll keep them in mind the next time I need to purchase magazines.

I’m very happy with the Warren Tactical Sights. I thought I might have a hard time adjusting to the blacked out rear but it was much easier than I thought.

Thanks for checking out the podcast and leaving a comment.

  • After listening to that first news story, something seems a little fishy. Do you think it’s possible that there was a negligent discharge and he made up the story about the thugs attempting to rob him to cover it up? The bits about loading the magazine may have been an embellishment to make him sound less guilty.

If not, that should at least be a lesson to always keep a round in the chamber when carrying.

  • Fallen way behind on my podcast. Just wanted to stop by with a belated thank-you for the kind words and links, as well as another great show!
