First Archery Field Round of the Year

Stowe Archers - Field Round

About Four Years ago, I was approached and asked if I had any interest in becoming the Vice President at Stowe ArchersOpens in a new tab.. At the time, I had been spending a lot of time volunteering at the club and, unknown to me, the President was planning on early retirement and a move to the other side of the state.

After some consideration, I accepted the nomination and was voted in at our annual club election. Since then I’ve become Club President and have volunteered several hundred hours of my time to building and improving the club. At times it has been very stressful but I don’t regret my decision at all.

The big downside of volunteering so much time is that there isn’t very much left over to spent actually shooting my bow. This year I made the difficult decision to not run our Outdoor Leagues. Instead, I want to use some of my limited time to do some more shooting so that I can enjoy the outdoors.

With the weather being so nice today, I had planned on heading over to the club to shoot the Field Course. I thought this would be a good opportunity to take a break from training for my 5K and do a little hiking with my bow. I dusted off my Elite Victory 39 (Which I haven’t had the chance to shoot since around this time last year) and headed over to the club to meet up with my brother.

We spent about an hour and a half leisurely walking the Lower Field Course and chatting. It was a much needed change of pace and I had a great time. I hope to do a lot more shooting this year and look forward to the upcoming 50-Meter and Field Leages.
