A Look At Libations, Things To Come On Walt in PA

Macallan 12 Year Single Malt ScotchOn a couple of occasions every week, I like to treat myself with a cigar while I work on this site as well as Stogie ReviewOpens in a new tab.. It helps me unwind a bit and acts as a reward for putting forth a set amount of time to make sure certain things come about.

That cigar, or treat, is normally paired with a glass of water or iced tea. Every once in a while I like to throw together a cigar and adult beverage to sweeten the pot. As I write this I just so happen to be sipping on some scotch while puffing away on a cigar.

I find that I enjoy Scotch with a more full flavored smoke while I enjoy Bourbon with something with a little less body and flavor. Beer seems to be kind of universal with the exception of a Maduro cigar and Stout, that pairing is excellent.

Some of my earlier posts were beer reviews, and there will be more in the future. When I started thinking about the direction I wanted to go with this blog, months before it was created, I had plans on mixing it up with different types of video reviews. Rather than beer reviews, I’ll leave those to MikeOpens in a new tab., I’m going to try and do some Scotch, Bourbon, and Rum reviews which will include both text and video. I’m still very wet behind the ears when it comes to libations, so bear with me as I progress through my first few reviews.

What libation do you like to enjoy
Be it with, or without, cigars?

  1. I was introduced to both cigars and scotch/bourbon/rum (s/b/r) about this time last year and to date I have enjoyed both cigars and s/b/r independent of each other and on occasion together.

I’m having fun learning more and more every day and I have met some really good folks along the way.

The libations I have enjoyed recently include:

Sipping Rum – El Dorado Special Reserve 15 Year (highly recommend it!)

Scotch – Laphroig (lots of peat), Johnnie Walker Gold & Black Labels, and Lagavulin

Whisky – Wasmund’s Single Malt Whisky (made in Sperryville, Va)

I think your doing reviews on libations would be great! A group of coworkers of mine are getting together next weekend for a Scotch/Whisky tasting at a buddies place….should be fun!

  2. I never thought that I would enjoy it..but when my brother and I were in Vegas a couple of weeks ago..We had the famous Casa Fuente Mojito..and man..I was shocked how well they went with a cigar..
Bourbon/Whiskey..I really like Jefferson Reserve… Blantons…and Stranahans Colorado Whiskey
Single Malt..Highland Park 18 yr. is my new favorite..very smoky with lots of peat..and The Glenmorangie Nectar D’or is also a very good scotch..

  3. I think some Libation reviews is a great idea. I haven’t ventured into any bourbons or scotch yet and would like to read about others experiences.
