I want to preface this by saying that the video accompanying this book was done in the heat of the moment. I fired up the camcorder right after I finished reading and the juices of disappointment were flowing freely. While the story had its interesting points, it was the first book in the series that I actually thought was a chore to read.
I found myself avoiding putting the book down, not because it was suspenseful, but because I simply wanted to be done with it and get back to the main storyline. Rather than focus on Richard and Kahlan, it instead introduced two new characters and stayed with them up until about the last seventy-five pages.
