A couple of weeks back I posted match video from the December New Holland IDPA Match on the PA2A Forum. In that thread I made mention of how fun the rifle side stage was. The Match Director from Oley, who I’ve shot with in the past, contacted me and offered to loan me a rifle for an upcoming Oley Valley Fish & Game 2 Gun Match.
Not wanting to pass up another opportunity to have fun with an AR-15, I took him up on his offer. I had a great time and got the chance to shoot rifle from a variety of positions I don’t think I would have at a typical IDPA / USPSA Side Match.
The prone positions were tough, especially since I couldn’t get as close to the ground as some of the other attendees. I learned that the more precise side of tactical rifle is just as much fun as running and gunning. After what we’ve been facing with Gun Control attempts, I don’t know when I’ll be able to acquire a rifle of my own but I’m more determined now than ever.
Toward the end of the match, the Match Director asked for some photos. Since I was running the timer, I decided to pull double duty and snap away with my iPhone (that is why there are so many photos).
