Finding Online Archery Challenges

Online Archery Challenges - Target Round

Have you ever been someplace and overhear a group of people talking about something that grabs your attention. Your ears perk up but you don’t want to be that guy that walks over and butts his way into the conversation?

That was me just a couple of weeks ago. I was at Stowe Archers ClubOpens in a new tab. to serve as an extra set of hands at our 2017 Indoor 3D Money ShootOpens in a new tab.. One of the shooters came back to the registration desk and asked if he could snap a photo of his scorecard. A buddy of his commented, from across the room, “Yeah, you better get a pic of that for the Online Archery Competition.”

Now, I’m not the social butterfly type that would dive into that comment and ask for more info. Instead, I made a mental note of it and assured myself that it would be easy enough to find online.

One thing lead to another and the Online Archery Challenge slipped my mind for several days. When I finally did think to do a little searching, I came up empty. After all, I didn’t even know if Online Archery Competition was the actual name or if it was a generic description.

Finding Online Archery Challenges

Over the past week, I’ve been seeing familiar names and faces pop up in my Facebook “People You May Know” list. Some are guys that attended the Money Shoot and others are members of surrounding archery clubs.

I sent out a couple of Friend Requests and, to my surprise, one of them was to the person behind the Online Archery Challenge. This lead me to the Online Archery Challenge Facebook PageOpens in a new tab..

The concept of an online social group competing in archery challenges was very appealing to me, so I dove right in and started reading. I found everything you would expect to find on a typical facebook page – there were memes, photos, videos, and advertisements. Unfortunately, as an outsider, none of this was helping me understand what the group was or how it actually worked.

Just as I was about to chalk this up as a cool concept that I just couldn’t wrap my head around, I stumbled onto the Online Archery Challenges Competitors GroupOpens in a new tab.. What I found there were a lot of people that seemed really pumped about the upcoming March Challenge.

The March Challenge: 17.1

Last night the details were posted for the 17.1 Challenge. I watched the video and clicked through to the website to clarify a couple of questions I still had. With what I feel is a fairly solid understanding of how everything works, I’m looking at participating in this and future challenges.

I suppose the only thing to do now is find a team-mate or two and get started. Fortunately, we have a couple of Nice Targets Turkeys at the club to shoot at for the first challenge.
