Welcome to the WaltInPA YouTube Channel

Once upon a time, I used to spend quite a bit of time attending local Competitive Pistol Shooting Matches (Mostly USPSA but some IDPA). Besides the shooting itself, I used to enjoy putting together Match Video. When I first got started this was nothing more than a single POV Camera mounted to a head strap. The more I shot, the more technical it became. By the time I stopped shooting, I was using upwards of four cameras and mixing the footage together.

The last camera I purchased was a bit of a specialty item – the Pivothead Video Glasses. The cool thing about these glasses was that it placed the lens between the eyes. This gave the viewer a better line of sight down the gun (as opposed to my Countour which was always offset). Unfortunately, by the time I bought a pair of Pivothead Glasses, life was getting hectic and I was phasing out Competative Shooting.

One day, while moving some of my old gear, I came across my old pair of Pivothead Glasses. On a whim, I plugged them in to see if they still worked after being packed away for a few years. I was shocked – not only did they hold a charge but they seemed to be working just as they were supposed to.

Motovlogging

As I mentioned in a couple of previous posts, I want to get into Motovlogging. It is a nice blend of blogging with the type of video work I used to do – I think it will be a lot of fun. I’m a bit out of practice but rambling on and on (and on and on and on…) to a video camera comes natural to me…

For fun I decided to stuff the Pivothead Video Glasses into my HJC F70 Helmet and see what the old tech could do. The fitmet was terrible and the video quality wasn’t great on a moving vehicle. Not wanting to scrap the entire video (the camera recorded for about 45 minutes before I turned it off) I thought I’d take a leap and get started with the WaltInPA YouTube ChannelOpens in a new tab..

The Pivothead Video wasn’t acceptable by itself (grainy video and muffled audio) so I incorporated a “Talking Head” style video as an introduction to my channel. The video is awkward and long but it is a start. As the typical YouTube Advice goes – You don’t need to be perfect, you just need to star!

Future video will be much better quality (I can’t promise they’ll be shorter and more concise) – I ordered a camera and microphone to replace the Pivotheads. I suppose this was the push I needed to get the ball rolling.
