USPSA Stage 003: Don’t Miss The Steel

The last two stages I designed use a lot of props, most notably wall sections. This time I set out to make a stage that I would enjoy shooting but I wanted to use no wall sections. I did, however, use a couple of barrels to break things up. The twist, if you will, is some forward falling steel placed up against a no-shoot.

While I don’t think the steel will cause much trouble for the average shooter, I think their might be a mental hiccup that causes the shooter to slow down, just a little bit, in order to avoid the penalty of what lies behind.

Just like previos stages, the stage you see down below is free to use. The only thing that I ask, if you decide to use it at your club, is to shoot me an email at walt at waltinpa dot com and let me know how it went. Letting me know about any setup or shooting issues will help in future stage development and the note would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Great looking stage, looks like a lot of fun. I’d look for sub 7 seconds to be a good Limited score, add a little time for us in Production because of the mag change.

    The no-shoots behind the steel would be tough. I think I would hate you afterward.

    1. You know, I was wondering what I good time for this stage might be. For Limited, 7 seconds seems pretty fast for 10 rounds, but I think you are right. I’d be happy with anything under 10 seconds in Production division.

      I think a lot of people would hate me for placing the no-shoot directly behind the steel like that. It pretty much insure that any miss, unless it goes high, is hitting you with a penalty.

      1. well have a notebook with hard copies , so when we go to LPRG you can give them to ted. I’d have no problem helping setup.
