Weight Loss Journal: October 4th

Yesterday started off well enough. I got to sleep in a little and then made myself an egg-white omelette for breakfast. Things began to slip after that, eventually going nuclear by the end of the day.

You see, after breakfast my wife had to run out. I was loading the car for her so she took mine to run out and get a coffee for the road. The coffee turned into coffee and donuts. I ate two of them. While she was out I used the opportunity to socialize and made my way over to the cigar shop.

Sundays are a great day to be at the shop. The lounge is usually pretty busy (especially during football season) and members are treated to lunch. Instead of the home-cooked meal that is usually done they picked up a couple of pizzas. I had two slices of pepperoni.

To cap off the evening, it was my mother in-law’s birthday. Instead of going out, my wife wanted to host a dinner at our house. My mother in-law requested Lasagna with fresh sauce made from the tomatoes we grew in our garden this summer.

I had more lasanga than I should have. I also had a couple of bread-sticks to dip in the left-over sauce on my plate. Feeling over full and very uncomfortable, a piece of cake was set down in front of me for dessert. I couldn’t say no and wound up finding room for the delicious angel-food cake with lemon cream topping that my wife also made.

I’m not proud of it but I went back for seconds on dessert about an hour later. It was so good…

I knew that the day was going to be high on calories and low on exercise. I meant to spend a little time on the treadmill before dinner but I wound up coming through the door and being put to work preparing for the family dinner.

By the end of the night I was a couple hundred calories over my daily goal. I feel guilty but know that it isn’t the end of the world. I’ll just have to find ways to creatively add a few more minutes of activity each day this week.
