First Impressions: Don Pepin Garcia Serie JJ

Don Pepin Serie JJ - 1

Today I have a first impressions review of a cigar that many of you are probably very familiar with. That cigar is the Don Pepin Garcia Serie JJ. Due to the price of these cigars locally, and even the online price, I haven’t had a whole lot of interest in dropping the cash on one. I have enjoyed both the Don Pepin Garcia Blue LabelOpens in a new tab. and Don Pepin Garcia Black LabelOpens in a new tab., as well as various other cigars produced by Pepin. As a result, I’ve always been a little curious about it. I was fortunate enough to receive one as a gift in the mail a few months back and finally decided to fire it up this morning.

The Positive

  • Interesting flavor profile
  • Medium body, not overwhelming as first cigar of the day
  • Rich and creamy flavors
  • Smooth finish which is easy on the palate

The Negative

  • Increased price compared to Blue and Black labels
  • Flavors aren’t rich enough to keep me excited, wears off mid-way

You should know that I am a big advocate of not judging a cigar based on a single sample. I feel that three cigars are necessary to formulate an honest opinion. With that in mind, please be aware that these videos will act as a video diary, of sorts, for a series of cigars that will be reviewed in much more detail on Stogie ReviewOpens in a new tab..

  1. Interesting review Walt! I have a personal attachment to the JJ so my opinion of it is a bit blurred. Even so, I found myself nodding in agreement to some of the things you pointed out.

  2. Nice man. It’s a really good smoke. I go back and forth on whether the Series JJ or the JJ Maduro is the better smoke. Except for the White Label Salomon. Damn that was a great cigar.
