Shooting The Breeze Podcast: Episode 23

Litto Gomez Diez SB IV and Glock 17 - 1

In this weeks gun podcast, I was given the gift of gab. That, coupled with simply being in a good mood, stretched this podcast out to roughly an hour and thirteen minutes. I followed the usual flow of the show, however, I added in an extra piece of news as I felt that it shouldn’t have been passed up.

Discussion Topic:

I last I talked about my options, as far as my Beretta 70S went. I gave it some thought and decided to take the gun to a local gun store and see exactly what it was worth to them. Not completely happy with the offer, I went to a second shop. As it turned out, the gun wound up staying at the second shop and I left with a shiny new gun.

  1. Great show Walt, now you have another gun I need to shoot!!! haha How does it feel being on the Dark Side you now have the 3 most popular Polymer guns on the market whats the next toy your eyeing up. Great news articles Loved them. When you carried your Pocket and your XD did you put the pocket weakside?

    1. Corey,
I still haven’t had the chance to get out and put some rounds through the Glock. I need a holster and a couple of mag pouches. Maybe Sunday, if the weather cooperates, I’ll get out and put some rounds down range.

Depending on how much I like shooting the Glock, I might maybe thing about a Glock 19 (a little smaller and easier to carry than the G17) or perhaps a Glock 34 (9mm Competition model if/when I ever get the urge to shoot USPSA Limited). I’ve had a revolver in mind for a while now. Something like a Smith & Wesson Airweight to toss into a jacket pocket.

If I were carrying the Bodyguard as a backup gun, I would carry it on my weak side. It just seems like good idea to have a gun available on both sides of my body in the event that one arm is occupied fending off an attacker. In the case where I had strangers doing work, I tossed it into the same pocket I normally carry it in (Strong side) and had both guns on the same side.

    1. Scott,
I checked out the website, seems like he does good work. I’m looking forward to promoting him during USPSA season.

          1. The youngest member of the team and the most “traditional” kind of odd:) No way you would go out of the norm a bit? Did you order the sights?

          2. Scott,
No, I haven’t ordered the sights yet. I didn’t expect to have them in time for tomorrow and I want to see work before I turn over my gun.

I spent a fair amount of time looking at Duracoat photos. Guns with the slide coated in a solid color, with the frame remaining untouched, are tough to pull off. Something like stainless looks good on a Glock while wild colors just don’t do it for me.

  2. Just a short comment, good show, congrats on your new gun, I’m sure it will be fun to shoot.

  3. FWIW “Weer’d Beard” is actually just a college nickname that stuck. Lots of people call me that in person, and many of my close friends mix my given name and Weer’d interchangeably!

Thanks so much for your shout-out and kind words. It really meant a lot to me. Also I’m a huge fan of the podcast, also I’m one of the guys who generally just listens to it on my phone, and you actually do a surprisingly good job making a great audio cast even while you’re shooting video. Your longest pauses you can always hear the cigar being puffed which only adds to the ambiance!

I’m a fan, and I’m glad you enjoyed the vigil and thanks for your support!

Thanks for the kind words. I’m glad you enjoy the podcast and I was happy to participate in the candle meme.
