Yesterday, the temperature in Berks County climbed steadily into the mid 90s. With humidity becoming oppressive, I did not want to step outside to let my dog out into the yard, let alone stand in it and swing a shotgun about. I seriously considered passing on Sporting Clays this week. That was, until some light cloud cover moved in and the temperature dropped a few degrees.
Seizing the opportunity to out to the range for a bit, I loaded up my shotgun and was on my way. Upon arrival, the range was a ghost town. It seemed as though the heat chased away the usual shooters and I had the place to myself. Once situated, I payed the $12.00 fee and hit the course.
Shooting alone caused me to move through the course quickly. After roughly thirty minutes, I fired my last shot and made my way back to the clubhouse. The trapper, a young man that I met during my first time shooting Sporting Clays, complimented me on shooting far better than my first time out.
While I didn’t keep count of how many clays I broke, my conservative estimate is that I broke at least 75% of the 50 Clay Course. There was not a single pair where I didn’t make at least one shot. I was pleased with the way I shot and can not wait to get back out again in a couple of weeks.
It seems that after two weeks of back to back poor shooting, I’m finally getting a feel for the game. At each stage I am formulating a strategy and adapting where needed.

Hey, alright, sounds like your getting into this ”shooting” thing. Thanks for your update and kept ”busting” those bird’s.
I’m having a real blast (no pun intended) with this “shooting” thing š
Thanks for the comment
Nice review as always Walt, let me know when you head up I can use your video and tape you, maybe I could shoot some footage of myself as well can’t hurt to see from an outside view. Wait did I just offer to Video tape you…. that sounded weird… hahah Hope all is well.
Corey,
Going every week is a bit too expensive, so I’ll probably make it n every-other week thing. My next trip out for Sporting Clays will be on July 26th. Having someone around to handle a camera would be awesome. Bring a shotgun along and give it a try, it is very fun.
