Time Change Woes

For the past fifteen-minutes I have been racking my brain trying to come up with a blog post for today. I’m finding it difficult for a couple of reason, one of which has been my sleep pattern. Ever since the clock change last weekend, I’ve felt run-down and exhausted.

Have you ever stayed up far too long, then the following day your eyes actually hurt? I haven’t been up all hours of the night, but my average nights sleep has been reduced by more than an hour. I find myself tossing and turning for that entire hour earlier that I am trying to get to sleep. By the time my body thinks its time for bed, my mind is racing with plans for the following day.

When I finally do fall asleep, I’m finding it increasingly difficult to drag myself out of bed in the morning. Once I hop into the shower, I feel wide awake and ready to start the day. The only apparent sign of my lack of sleep at this point is the way that my eyes feel.

This is a common phase that I’m sure most of the country goes through at this point in the year. By next week I’ll probably be reset and on the new schedule, but the week it takes to adjust is not very fun.

Another reason for my lack of post ideas is that I’ve simply been busy working on one project outside of my dog research. This side project is nearing completion and should make for a couple of interesting posts. Once it is complete, I’ll be sharing a few photos of the final product.

How has the time change
affected you?

Walt

My name is Walt White and I've been riding motorcycles on and off since my early twenties. After more than a decade away from the sport, I came back - and I've been making up for lost time ever since. Based in Southeast Pennsylvania, I write and create videos about real motorcycle ownership: the bikes I ride, the gear I test, the roads I explore, and the community I've found along the way. I ride a 2022 Yamaha MT-09 SP and a 2023 Kawasaki Ninja 400, and I try to give you the honest take you'd get from a friend rather than a press release. I'm also a husband, dad to three girls, and a pitbull owner - which keeps life interesting off the bike too.

  1. Walt,

This has been an awful week for me as well concerning sleeping patterns. I can only hope that my body will finally adjust for up coming week. Good luck!

  2. This week has been Hell. Not only did we loose an hour, but I also ended up having to come into work early just about every day, including 5:30 am on Friday. I did sleep in a bit on Saturday so I think I’ll be fine for Monday , but your were right, the time change is never fun.
