Yesterday was a special day for my wife and I, it signified eight years of marriage. We initially made plans to go away for a night or two and I put in for a couple of days of vacation time. Plans changed but I never bothered to remove my vacation time from my work schedule. I thought at least we could hang out together around the house while our daughter spent time in school.
I tried to make the most of the day. Once our daughter was on the bus for school, my wife and I went for a walk around the neighborhood. We covered a little more than two miles and had a few laughs along the way. Once back home, we hopped in the car and made a Costco run (this new 200g protein diet has me going through a lot of chicken).
We arrived before the store opened and used the opportunity to head down to the mall and pick up some coffee. We walked around a little more before heading back over to Costco. We loaded up on Chicken, Pork Chops, Greek Yogurt, Egg Whites, String Cheese, and a few other odds and ends before leaving (I don’t think I’ve ever left that store having spent less than $100).
By this point in the day I was pretty close to reaching my 10,000 step daily Fitbit Goal. I headed over to the gym and put in a pretty intense workout. I got warmed up on the rowing machine then moved into my chest and bicep routine. I capped off the session with some cardio on the elliptical and made my way back home.
Starving, I ate a late lunch that consisted of a double serving of chicken and 1-1/4 cup of rice. I was stuffed and struggling to keep my eyes open. A few hours later my wife wanted to go out to dinner. I couldn’t say no because it was our anniversary but I wasn’t the slightest bit hungry at that point.
I ordered grilled salmon and knew that getting it down was going to be a struggle. I was downright afraid when my wife ordered us an appetizer and expected me to help eat it. When dinner was over, I walked out of the restaurant feeling so uncomfortably full that it was sickening. My gym session was less intense than getting all that food down.
Despite being very full, it was a nice night out. We don’t get out too often without our daughter and it was a nice change of pace. Lots of walking, a solid gym session, some cardio, and time spent with my loving wife – It was a great day all around.
One of the real pleasures in life is the ability to hop on my motorcycle and ride. Often I'm not quite sure where I'm going, but I almost always wear a backpack. Neither my 2022 Yamaha MT-09 SP nor...
