Weight Loss Journal: October 10th

Over the past week I’ve been experiencing pain in my back. Each morning I have been waking up with an ache about 4 inches below my shoulders. It only presents itself after I’ve been lying down for a few hours and goes away once I’m out of bed and moving around.

When I woke up at 4:00am on Saturday morning, it took some serious effort to push through the pain and climb out of bed. Once I stood up, my back felt instantly better but my calves hurt. I was going to take a ride over to the gym for a quick cardio session but I thought I’d better not push it.

Cardio was out, as was a strength training leg workout. An upper body strength workout was also out because I didn’t want to aggravate my back. I wound up making my way down to the living room and put on the TV. I watched Jason Bourne thwart assassins and took it easy for a couple of hours. When my daughter woke up we played for a little while.

That was basically my day in a nutshell. I hung out around the house, played with my daughter, and did some light housework. Due to light activity my MyFitnessPal Calorie allotment was lower than a typical workout day and I went over my goal by 53 calories. It wasn’t where I wanted to be in terms of nutrition but it was a rest day, I’m not going to beat myself up over it.

Walt

My name is Walt White and I've been riding motorcycles on and off since my early twenties. After more than a decade away from the sport, I came back - and I've been making up for lost time ever since. Based in Southeast Pennsylvania, I write and create videos about real motorcycle ownership: the bikes I ride, the gear I test, the roads I explore, and the community I've found along the way. I ride a 2022 Yamaha MT-09 SP and a 2023 Kawasaki Ninja 400, and I try to give you the honest take you'd get from a friend rather than a press release. I'm also a husband, dad to three girls, and a pitbull owner - which keeps life interesting off the bike too.
