Writing Prompt #1: A Fond Photo

Being the new father of a beautiful baby girl, I’ve found that my free time isn’t what it used to be. I still manage to sneak in a few cigars while working on Stogie Review content and do a little light reading, but I have found it difficult to work on creative writing. I originally planned on toting my laptop around the house and writing in my spare minutes, I’m finding it a major challenge to get into a groove in between caring for my daughter.

What I have done though, is write myself notes when a story prompt comes to mind. The objective of this post is to share with you one of those writing prompts. I’m going to post these prompts once per week for the next two months. If they gain interest and become used, I’ll continue with them. I’m also hoping to use these prompts as motivation to put more effort into squeezing in some creative writing.

With that said, the very first writing prompt I have for you is as follows:

After a long conference, an office worker returns to their desk and pulls a photo from a drawer. The photo (pictured below) eases the stresses of the day and brings back memories.

In the event that you use the prompt, please feel free to link to your story in the comment section below.

Walt

My name is Walt White and I've been riding motorcycles on and off since my early twenties. After more than a decade away from the sport, I came back - and I've been making up for lost time ever since. Based in Southeast Pennsylvania, I write and create videos about real motorcycle ownership: the bikes I ride, the gear I test, the roads I explore, and the community I've found along the way. I ride a 2022 Yamaha MT-09 SP and a 2023 Kawasaki Ninja 400, and I try to give you the honest take you'd get from a friend rather than a press release. I'm also a husband, dad to three girls, and a pitbull owner - which keeps life interesting off the bike too.
