An Update on my Notebook

In WritingTags Journal, Notebook, Random, WritingJune 9, 20161 Comment Walt

Last week I stumbled onto an article on Medium that Inspired me to Carry a Notebook. I’ve been keeping that notebook handy ever since. When I leave for work, I stick it in my lunch bag and bring it along. When I head out of the house and plan on being somewhere for a while, I keep it close by. Despite having the notebook at the ready, I’m not using as often as I’d like. I think part of that …

Medium Inspired me to Carry a Notebook

Many years ago my parents made the switch from Catholic School to Public School. Tuition was on the rise and it made sense for a growing family to cut back. I didn’t mind so much, the public school kids seemed to get more days off for various holidays. I must have been in 5th grade at the time and one of the very first classes I walked into was English Composition (or it might have been Grammar – I can’t …

Fiction Friday – Prompt 193

In WritingTags Fiction, WritingFebruary 4, 20114 Comments Walt

The moon hung high in the sky, casting light through stain glass windows in multi-colored streaks. Fat flakes of falling snow flickered through the moonlight, giving old plaster walls a sinister appearance. Wall sconces around the perimeter of the large room flickered and burned, leaving dingy trails of sut climbing towards the ceiling. A tall man with white hair leisurely paced up an down an aisle between pews. His face was weathered and weary. His voice was gritty but gentle. …

NaNoWriMo – Big Fat Fail

In WritingJanuary 12, 20113 Comments Walt

November was National Novel Writing Month and I decided that I wanted to give it a try. The goal was to write 50,000 words throughout the month, creating a rough draft of a novel. When I got started, I knew that it was going to be very difficult. With a newborn in the house, time to sit down and write was tough to come by. In addition, there was my wedding anniversary, birthdays, and Thanksgiving demanding my time and attention. …

NaNoWriMo – Status Update – Day 9

In WritingTags NaNoWriMo, WritingNovember 9, 20101 Comment Walt

Day 9 of National Novel Writing Month has come to a close (at least for me) and I have a total word count of 15,000. I had a bit of an interesting experience today. I generally wake up wicked early on Tuesdays and Thursdays in order to get to the gym and get a jump start on the two days that I work from home. Feeling remarkably tired this morning, I turned off my alarm clock and fell back to …

NaNoWriMo – Status Update – Day 8

In WritingTags NaNoWriMo, WritingNovember 9, 2010Leave a comment Walt

You are probably wondering, “Walt, it is Day 9 so why are we getting an update on day 8?” The answer to that question is simple, The National Novel Writing Month website was down last night and I couldn’t get a screen capture of my word count. I realize that is a lousy excuse for delaying an update but my writing excursion yesterday was a trying one. I had a bit of a rough day and was considering not adding …

Instagram post 2188903448250909365_205973269 When I first heard about the concept of an Infinity Bottle - I knew I had to make one. While putting it together I thought it would be amazing (lots of good whiskey went into the bottle). The finished product is... well, a little weird...
.
I’m looking forward to tinkering with it and seeing how it evolves over time.

Instagram post 2185999451068158668_205973269 Nice mild night to be out in the deck with a cigar and a little Makers Mark. Also picked up a bottle of Maker’s 46 - I’m curious how they compare.

Instagram post 2174349788267187207_205973269 Back in my youth I remember the occasional shot of Wild Turkey 101 and how rough it was. At least a decade later, pored neat and sipped on, this goes down surprisingly easy. At $25 per bottle I’d say this is definitely one of the more memorable “Budget Bourbons” I’ve had.
