Day 9 of National Novel Writing Month has come to a close (at least for me) and I have a total word count of 15,000. I had a bit of an interesting experience today. I generally wake up wicked early on Tuesdays and Thursdays in order to get to the gym and get a jump start on the two days that I work from home. Feeling remarkably tired this morning, I turned off my alarm clock and fell back to sleep. I missed out on my gym time and decided to try and get a little writing done with the time that I had remaining before I had to start work.
When I sat down to write, my mind was completely blank in terms of novel thoughts and ideas. It didn’t occur to me until this morning that not only was I using my gym time to work up a sweat, it was also time that I spend brainstorming my novel. Suddenly not having that time, when I’ve become accustomed to it, proved difficult.
At any rate, I’m not sure where I am in regards to what my word count should be, but I’m pretty happy with 15,000 words. I have been sitting down and setting mini-goals of hitting the next thousand before stopping. It seems to be working well for me.
