My wife and I are in the middle of a serious debate. Which one of us is in the most discomfort, the full-term pregnant lady or the guy that has hit the gym for four consecutive days?
She may be carrying around a full size baby in her womb, dealing with swollen feet, suffering through sore breasts, and all the other goodies that go along with pregnancy but hear me out.
On Monday I hit the gym for the first time in quite a while. Despite saying “I don’t want to push it” I’ve been doing drop sets and trying to work in volume for each of the main lifts. Monday consisted of squats. Tuesday was rough and getting down onto the toilet was brutal (I was grabbing things for dear life while lowering myself down).
On Tuesday I did the bench press. I tried to work in a lot of volume then followed it up with some cable crossovers. My legs ached when I eased into bed that evening and I drifted off to sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night to a feeling that I can only compare to being hacked in the chest by a rusty ax.
On Wednesday my legs felt a little better but my chest was killing me. Some light stretching helped but I felt limited when I entered the gym and proceeded to dead lift. I did 5 sets of 5 reps followed by a drop set and some inverted rows.
Here we are on Thursday and I’ve got mildly sore legs, a sore chest, and a sore back. When I hit the gym today, I tried a little more stretching before proceeding with the overhead press (5 Sets of 5 reps followed by a drop set).
Tomorrow I suspect I’ll wake up to a wonderful soreness in my shoulders. It should compliment the existing pain in my chest and back. It would be nice if my legs were back to normal but I suspect a mild soreness.
I’ve completed all of the weight sessions that I had planned for the week but I think I’ll hit Anytime Fitness after work and round out the week with 5 consecutive days of exercise. While dead lifting I noticed a “Workout of the Week” posted on the chalk board. I think I’ll give that a try – coupled with the cardio I’ve been doing before and after each lifting session.
Sure, my wife may be full blown ready to deliver any minute but c’mon, that can’t possibly be as rough as muscle soreness from my first week back in the gym….
Until recently, a Kawasaki Ninja 400 Exhaust wasn't something that I was interested in. You see, I bought my Ninja 400 as a backup bike to my Yamaha MT-09 SP, and its primary function was to be a fun...
Over the weekend, I was Rear-Ended on my Motorcycle. As far as Motorcycle Accidents are concerned, this was a best-case scenario. My 2022 Yamaha MT-09 is banged up, but I walked away virtually...
