When I decided to go about doing this personal project of mine, I wanted to write a quick journal entry outlining each day throughout October. Things were going along great until I hurt my back. A solid week of updates which were more or less the same (over on calories – no exercise) got mundane and the weekend sort of slipped by without updates.
I managed to stay somewhat busy. I took a vacation day on Friday to hang out with my daughter at school (they had a parent visitation day where my wife and I could sit in on a class – our daughter wanted us to come in for Math). On Saturday she had a soccer tournament (the 6 and under group had a mimic tournament – they played 4 half-games without keeping score). It was fun to watch but it was cold and windy for anyone not running up and down a soccer field. On Sunday I spent some time at the cigar shop before heading out to a meeting at the archery club.
I was very tempted to start exercising early but it is hard to get motivated in the morning when you wake up with pain in your back. Speaking of the pain, it is still an issue but seems to be getting better (very slowly). I’ve been sleeping about 6 hours before I wake up where as before I was waking up every 2 hours.
Monday is my first day back at the gym and I can’t wait to get into the swing of things. I’ll have to test the waters and see if any particular exercises aggravate my back and, if so, make adjustments as I go.
