At this very moment I am sitting out on my deck. I have my laptop in front of me, a cigar burning in the ashtray, and a bottle of water sweating away. The sun is starting to set and the temperature is falling. It is still a little humid but generally, it is a nice night to be sitting out.
Soon it will be time to get up and go inside. When that happens, I’ll be greeted by soreness in my lower back, ass, and thighs. You see, it has been a fun but rough week for me. I’m finding that I enjoy my time on the treadmill. It allows me to pop in my earbuds and listen to podcasts. No interruptions, just me, the hosts, and my thoughts.
I’ve been doing a lot of running lately. Probably a little more than I should. The second FitBit Work Week Hustle Challenge is in full swing and I have a commanding lead (To the tune of 21,993 steps as I type this). Last night I was looking at my step count and it occurred to me that reaching 100,000 steps in the challenge is very possible. I’m going to go for it.
The funny thing about this soreness is that it goes away as soon as I start running. My muscles loosen up and I find my groove. When I stop though, thats when the soreness comes back in waves. The goal is to hit 18,000 steps today and another 18,000 steps tomorrow. That will put me over the top and allow me to hit my biggest FitBit milestone ever.
Last week I hit 94,969 steps, this week I’ll hit 100,000 steps, and next week I’ll be taking a well deserved break. I’m not saying I won’t try to do well, I just think my body needs a little rest. I’d like to see myself hold roughly 75,000 steps per week (putting me at 15,000 steps per day – in a 5 day work-week cycle). It is 5,000 steps above my current daily goal but I think it is very doable.
Over the course of the last four weeks I saw my biggest weight loss so far. It was only five pounds over the course of a week but I’m proud of it. Not only that, I think I can attribute it to all of the cardio I’ve been doing.

Ray,
I’m not nearly as active as I used to be but I still have plans to shoot when I can fit it into the schedule
